A Home for Puppy | A story in making grown-up decisions...

The past few weeks have been pretty eventful.  I've re-branded my photography business, my sister had a baby, Corey and I signed a contract on a house, and as many of you may know, we contemplated getting a puppy.
Puppy's owners left her at Corey's vet office, and she fell in love with him.  We decided to think about adopting her if her owners didn't return...
We do think that she is super sweet, but as we are approaching a major life change [becoming home owners], we ultimately decided not to keep puppy.  We would also be responsible for paying for damages and stains left in our apartment while we are at work.  We have a lot of unknowns finance wise for our future and we don't want to make a commitment we can't keep, or one that will put strain on our already tight budget.  Having a kitty is working for us right now, and living in a one bedroom apartment for a few more months would have made it difficult.
As Corey has said several times over the past few days, being responsible is hard.  We wish the timing was better and that we could keep her, but we know that she will get a great home and have no problem getting adopted.  If any of you are interested in adopting a very quiet, calm, and potentially BIG dog, let me know!  We want her to be adopted by someone awesome!  She's around 8 weeks and some type of mix [that's my vet-tech husband's professional opinion haha].  If you are interested you can message me on facebook or email [ashleyperry.art@gmail.com].  Her owners still have a few days to claim her, but it looks like they will not be returning.  Help us find her a great home!

Fresh From the Art Room | Ancient Art and Symbols

I had a great time teaching our Ancient Art Unit last month!

K-2 learned about the oldest art in the world [cave art!] and specifically explored the Caves of Lascuax. We took a virtual tour HERE.

Second grade went under the tables to create cave art just like the painters of Lascaux!

Some classes also added their cave art "signature" [hand print] to our cave wall!  They used craft paper, oil pastels, and ancient symbols.

Students did a wonderful job in all 3 grades.  It was awesome to see them so interested and engaged in this ancient art form!

3rd grade and 5th grade both learned about the Aboriginal Art of Australia and created "bark paintings" of x-ray animals. The 3rd grade learned about the "Dreamtime Stories" the natives of Australia wrote about their bark paintings and wrote their own.

The 5th graders created an entire story out of ancient symbols and learned how people recorded life before a written language...

4th Grade is exploring Native American art by creating owl masks using symbols!  What kid doesn't love metallic paint and feathers!?

Photography News!

Hello everyone!  I have been struggling with the decision of changing my business name to my married name for a while now.  Not because I didn't want to, but because most of my business comes from Facebook, and I was unable to just change my business page name.  I decided to go ahead and do it now while I'm still in the beginning stages of my business, and in the process of making some other changes [logo design, business account, etc.].  I have officially changed my business name to Ashley Blevins Photography, created a new fan page on facebook, AND created a new website!  I also created some logo designs and different buttons to create a brand new look!  Please feel free to explore my new sites and pages!

Kearns Family | Clayton, NC Lifestyle Family Photographer

Lifestyle photography is my absolute favorite style of photography, so yesterday when this gorgeous momma said she wanted more of a lifestyle session, my photographer heart leapt with joy :).  I love this family.  There is so much love and patience and everything that I hope to be as a parent every moment that I'm with them.  This session was completely unscripted.  This is just her family being awesome, gorgeous, and super fun.  Enjoy their peak...

Hannah and Jordan | Highgrove, Fuquay-Varina Wedding Photographer

Sunday was an absolutely PERFECT day for a wedding.  The weather was amazing, and I had a wonderful second-shooter helping capture Hannah and Jordan's big day.  [Thank you Kara from KaraKate Photography!] H & J are so in-love, and it showed in every aspect of the day.  They brought together their closest family and friends for a sweet and elegant wedding at the beautiful Highgrove in Fuquay-Varina.  You will also see how fun their bridal party was in these photos :) [they rocked].  I hope you enjoy this little peek into their special day!

Congratulations Hannah and Jordan!!!
